The ASHIM Health IT Professional training program is specifically designed to give you the skills you need for a career in
today's fastest growing field – health care information technology.
Our short-term training can be your ticket to work in a variety of healthcare settings
and roles such as: Application Analysts, Medical Software Sales, Application Maintenance,
Clinical Document Control Specialists, Help Desk Specialists, and more.
Students entering the program with previous clinical experience (i.e. CPC, CCS, and RN) may
work in health IT job roles such as: Clinical Software Trainers, EHR Implementation
Specialists, Health Systems Integration Professionals, Practice Work Flow Analysts, and more.
Students entering the program with previous IT experience may work in health IT job roles
such as: Application Development, Network Engineers, Programmers, Developers,
Database Professionals, Systems Administrators, and more.
What will I learn about health IT?
The Health Information Technology Professional course provides the fundamental knowledge
and skills required by technical professionals to support physician adoption of Health IT.
It is rooted in core concepts of Information & Computer Science, the US Health Care System,
and Medical Information Systems. The course provides a wide-ranging examination of information
and healthcare technologies, patient data management, and the culture of the health care industry today.
It includes detailed activities to reflect the way one area of health IT knowledge blends into
another including: networking and information exchange, terminology and effective communication
in health care and the public health setting, Electronic Health Record implementation and management,
use and standards in healthcare technologies, and concepts of quality improvement including patient safety.
Students gain necessary insight to develop proficiency, and correct technique, leading to the ability to
support physician adoption of health IT.

When can I start the ASHIM Health IT training?
The ASHIM health IT training program has no prerequisites so you can sign up today, and start tomorrow.
Do you offer a payment plan?
Yes, when you enroll in the online health IT course you have the option of paying your tuition in
full or in three payments. There is no extra charge for this service.
The first payment is billed at the time of registration, the second payment is billed 45 days later,
and the final payment is billed 90 days after the first payment. By registering in the course, you are
agreeing to pay the full course fee. A student who withdraws in the middle of the program will still be
charged the second and the third payments. Your access to the course will be restricted if your second or
third payment is not made on time, and you will not be allowed to sit for the final exam and CHISP® certification
if you have not made your full payment. After the first payment, you will have full access to the course.
ASHIM also provides a layaway plan. Layaway reservations may begin with a $100 payment. Installments are
made in any increment but must be complete within 12 months. Layaway payments are not refundable. Contact us

Do you offer continuing education units, (CEUs), for the ASHIM Health IT training?
Yes, the Health IT Professional online training program is awarded 12.0 CEU(s) Core B by AAPC.
How much does the health IT training, ASHIM membership, and CHISP® certification exam cost?
The complete Health Information Technology Professional course program includes all your textbooks,
ASHIM membership dues, and the national Certified Health Informatics Systems Professional (CHISP®)

What’s included in the health IT training program fees?
The ASHIM online health IT professional courses come with all ASHIM fees bundled into one reduced fee.The program includes hardcopy textbooks, login credentials for
access to the online learning system, the CHISP® Complete e-Study Guide, ASHIM membership, and the fully
proctored CHISP® exam. Successful students receive a Certificate of Completion
and the CHISP® Certification upon passing the exam. All hard copy materials and text books are the student’s to keep. There are also
benefits associated with the ASHIM membership, which include defined benefit medical and dental plans and access
to the Savings Connection for which most members average $500 in annual savings on products and services from
